Season 2 in the Books: What We Learned, What’s Next, and Where K1 Is Headed

Season 2: A Little Wiser, A Lot Busier

Going into this season, we had something we didn’t have in Year 1: a full season of experience behind us.

We had a better idea of what worked, what customers needed, and where we could make improvements. So, this year, we focused on one thing above all else: making your camping experience easier, more comfortable, and a little more memorable.

And while the tents might be the part you see, there’s a whole lot happening behind the scenes.

There’s cleaning, testing gear, planning new packages, making connections with local businesses, and plenty of trips back and forth for customer pickups and drop-offs. Sometimes it feels like we spend as much time packing and unpacking gear as we do talking about camping.

That’s all part of it, though.

We’ve never wanted K1 to feel like some faceless rental company where you book a tent, pick it up, and figure the rest out yourself. Behind K1 are real people who genuinely want you to have a great trip. We’re here to answer questions, help you get set up, and make the whole process as straightforward as possible.

Our mission hasn't changed since Day 1: make camping easy.

And thanks to the support of Albertans, we're making some pretty exciting progress

A Few Season 2 Highlights

This season brought a few firsts, some new adventures, and plenty of reasons to be grateful.

Here's a look at what we've been up to:

100+ new customers. We had the chance to help more than 100 new customers get outdoors, alongside some familiar faces returning for another adventure.

We made it onto Google Maps. A small milestone for some businesses, but a big step for us as we continue to grow and become easier to find.

Our first Berta Biker Bash. We got to be part of the first annual event and connect with a whole new crowd.

Our first wedding. Turns out, inflatable tents have a place beyond the campground, too.

The Beaumont Music Festival. Our tents pulled double duty as green rooms, staff areas, quiet spaces, and more. It's exciting to see the Summit Shelter being used in ways we hadn't originally imagined.

Five-star service, all season long. We maintained our five-star reputation, and that means a lot to us. Every review, recommendation, and returning customer helps a small business like ours keep moving forward.

A little island adventure. We hosted a pop-up on Vancouver Island and connected with dozens of campsites while we were there. We're always looking for new places and partnerships that can help more people experience camping differently.

None of this happens without the people who book with us, recommend us to friends, leave reviews, and take a chance on a growing Alberta business.

So, if you've rented from us, sent someone our way, or simply followed along this season, thank you. We appreciate it more than you know.

Now, onto the fun part.

What's Coming Next Season?

One of the best things about running K1 is hearing what you want to see next.

We get questions, suggestions, requests, and the occasional "You guys should really offer this..."

And honestly? Keep them coming.

Your feedback helps shape what we add, how we operate, and where we go next. Here are a few things we're working on for the upcoming season.

1. More Gear. Better Packages. Less Guesswork.

When we started, our gear selection was pretty straightforward: rent a tent, add a single camp cot if you needed one, and off you went.

We've come a long way since then.

We've expanded our lineup to include double camp cots for couples, queen and single air mattresses, and more options for building a setup that actually suits your trip.

We've also been putting together more complete packages for those who'd rather not spend their evenings hunting down everything they need for a weekend away.

Think tents, beds, lights, firewood, propane, grills, and other essentials bundled together.

Basically, less time making shopping lists and more time figuring out which campsite you're heading to.

We've also had plenty of requests for bear spray this season, so that's on our list for next year, too.

The bigger picture? We want K1 to become your go-to camping partner. Whether you're a first-time camper who needs the basics or a seasoned outdoor enthusiast who just doesn't want to store another pile of gear in the garage, we've got you covered.

2. Easier Drop-Offs, Less Packing Tetris

Ever tried fitting all your camping gear into the car?

Now imagine doing it with a tent bag that's roughly the size of a small refrigerator.

Okay, maybe that's a slight exaggeration. But if you've already packed your cooler, sleeping bags, chairs, food, clothes, and everything else you think you'll need, finding room for a Summit Shelter can turn into a game of automotive Tetris.

We've heard you.

That's why we're working on an early drop-off option for next season, giving you the opportunity to pick up your tent ahead of your departure and pack the night before.

No last-minute rearranging of the entire vehicle. No trying to figure out whether the cooler can ride on someone's lap.

Just a little more time to get organized before hitting the road.

It's a small change, but that's exactly the kind of thing we want to keep improving: removing the little headaches that get in the way of a great trip.

3. Festival Glamping Is Coming

Camping at a festival sounds great in theory.

You're there for the music, the atmosphere, the people, and the memories you'll probably still be talking about next summer.

But festival camping itself? That's another story.

You've got the cramped tents, the awkward sleeping arrangements, the late-night setup, and the realization that your idea of a comfortable sleeping situation was perhaps a little too optimistic.

We're looking to change that.

Next season, we're expanding our festival offering, bringing K1 tents to events across the country. The goal is simple: give festival-goers a more spacious, comfortable place to sleep without having to haul and assemble a traditional tent themselves.

And it's not just about sleeping arrangements. As we saw at the Beaumont Music Festival, these shelters can work as green rooms, staff areas, quiet spaces, and other event facilities, too.

We're excited to see where this takes us.

If you're organizing a festival, planning an event, or know someone who is, we'd love to chat. There's a lot of potential here, and we're just getting started.

4. YouTube Videos: Because Nobody Wants to Read a Manual at the Campsite

The first time you inflate the Summit Shelter, there can be a bit of a learning curve.

The second time? Usually much easier.

By the third, you'll probably be wondering why traditional tent poles were ever part of your life.

Still, we'd rather you have the answers before you need them, instead of standing at a campsite trying to remember something we explained at pickup.

That's why we're planning a dedicated YouTube playlist packed with useful videos, including:

Step-by-step tent setup and takedown tutorials.

Tips and tricks to get the most out of your rental.

Camping hacks and helpful things we've learned along the way.

Outdoor food and campfire cooking ideas.

Other handy resources to make your trip run a little smoother.

Whether it's your first time renting with us or your fifth, we'll make it easier to find the information you need, whenever you need it.

And who knows? We might even throw in a few adventures of our own along the way.

5. Introducing the Season Pass

For those of you who camp every chance you get, this one's worth keeping an eye on.

If you're heading out several times every summer, buying and storing all your own gear isn't always the most convenient option. Good equipment takes up space, needs maintenance, and can be expensive to buy outright.

That's where we're exploring a different approach.

With a K1 Season Pass, the idea is to give frequent campers convenient access to quality camping gear throughout the season, without having to own and store everything themselves.

We'll handle the storage and cleaning. You get to focus on planning your next trip.

Think of it as having a camping gear closet without actually needing a camping gear closet.

We're working on the details, but the goal is to make repeat camping trips even easier for those who spend a good chunk of their summer outdoors.

If that's you, stay tuned.

We're Only Getting Started

Two seasons ago, K1 Outdoors was an idea built around a simple belief: camping should be easier to get into, not harder.

Since then, we've helped families get outside, supported events, built new partnerships, and learned a whole lot along the way. We've also learned that growing a business means constantly adapting, listening, and finding ways to do things better.

We're proud of how far we've come, but we're even more excited about what's ahead.

There are new partnerships to build, more places to explore, and plenty of ideas we're looking forward to bringing to life.

And, of course, there will probably be more mosquitoes.

That's Alberta.

Thanks for being part of Season 2. We'll see you out there next season.
